In an unprecedented move aimed at furthering its special relationship with the Nigerian child, Mr. Bigg's has announced plans to treat some 2,000 children to grand day-long parties to which between 200 – 500 children will be invited, in five different Nigerian cities. The events are in commemoration of children's day 2006. The cities are Lagos , Ibadan , Abuja , Port Harcourt and Benin . The parties which will be open to attendance by children aged 4-12 years give added assent to the unique place occupied by the family in the core values of Mr. Bigg's and to the child as the germ of the Mr. Bigg's / family nexus.

As an equal opportunity organization motivated by strong social sentiments, Mr. Bigg's is reserving a quota of total attendance for physically challenged children and others from foster homes in the host cities of the grand parties. Another complimentary invitation to the party has been reserved for children born on May 27 at the rate of one child per Mr. Bigg's restaurant. Such a child needs to present an original birth certificate along with a confirmatory letter written by the head teacher or proprietor of his or her school to the effect that the child is a pupil of the school. Such a letter must be presented to the Manager of the Mr. Bigg's restaurant closest to the child or school not later than Monday, May 22, 2006 .

Beyond the big parties in five major Nigerian cities, thirteen additional cities will host lower scale parties for thirty children each on Saturday, May 27, 2006 , Children's Day. The thirteen additional cities are: Ilorin , Akure, Osogbo, Abeokuta , Calabar, Uyo, Aba , Warri, Enugu , Maiduguri , Kano , Jos and Kaduna .

The events will signal the culmination of a Children's Day special programme package dubbed ‘Bigg's Children's Day Funfair'. The programme will formally commence on Friday, May 19 in Mr. Bigg's restaurants nation-wide with a Promo which will endure till Wednesday, May 31, 2006 . The Promo affords equal opportunity to all customers of Mr. Bigg's to win instantly an assortment of child-oriented gifts upon purchase of Mr. Bigg's stuff worth N1,000.00. The gifts include: special teddy bears, branded pencil cases, purses, water bottles, biros, colouring books, story books, mathematical sets and branded school bags. The Promo's star prize however is an invitation to the special Children's Day Party referred to above.

For emphasis, participation in the Promo is through purchase in the Promo season of May 19 – 31, 2006 in any Mr. Bigg's restaurant of products worth =N=1000.00 or more. This entitles the customer to take part in a lucky dip from which they will win any of the gifts/collaterals indicated above. A lucky winner of the star prize receives on the spot invitation to the Children's Day Party in their city of domicile.

A novel and exciting addition to the event is a dress code requiring all children to come to the venues of the parties dressed in the Mr. Bigg's colours of red and yellow. According to Bukky Oluyadi, Marketing Manager, Mr. Bigg's,
“A special gift awaits that mother who is able to dress up the child in the most exciting combination of our corporate colours of red and yellow such that he or she wins the prize for compliance with this dress code. The prize will be given to the parent through the child since no parent will be admitted into the venue of the event.”

Beyond all the above, all children who enter a Mr. Bigg's restaurant on Saturday, May 27, 2006 will receive a gift of a piece of cake, balloon cup and stick. The restaurants will also be festooned with red and yellow balloons to give them a special ambience for Children's Day.
